Dr. Tom Seals Special Guest Speaker For MOAA

According to Middle TN MOAA President, Michael Patenaude, LTC, USA Retired, March marked another excellent meeting with 37 in attendance.  Dr. Tom Seals a former Marine, Lipscomb University professor, and current Executive Director of God's Word For Warriors presented the mission and impact of his veteran ministry program.  His presentation was impassioned and insightful into combat veteran's emotional and spiritual struggles due to trauma, and the program’s focus on providing a pathway to healing.  This was our second in-person meeting in 2021, the first having 25 in attendance, so our attendance is growing.  Thanks to all who were able to attend.

Additional congratulations are also in order for Dr. Tom Seals who has become the Middle TN MOAA chapter's very first HONORARY Chapter Member.  Tom is a former Marine with a fascinating story of continued service to veterans of our armed services.  If you were fortunate enough to attend our March meeting you got to hear Tom describe his ongoing efforts to serve the spiritually wounded, emotionally distressed, and broken-hearted veterans in our community.  

$5,000 Grant Awarded by The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project

The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project (TCDJHP), a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting our nation’s military veterans, has awarded a $5,000 grant to God’s Word for Warriors, a non-profit committed to serving spiritually wounded and emotionally distressed veterans.

God’s Word For Warriors (GWFW) founded in 2018 has served hundreds of veterans struggling with moral and spiritual injury resulting from combat and other military hardships. “We are honored to be selected by TCDJHP for this grant,” Jim Humphrey, Vice President and Director of Development for GWFW.

About The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project: The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project (TCDJHP) is a not-for profit organization that assists other not-for-profits in securing funds to help causes that benefit veterans of the United States Armed Forces. God's Word For Warriors Announces Their Merged Partnership With Recon To Restoration

Nashville, TN (GWFW Press): Executive Director Dr. Tom Seals, announced today that Veteran non-profit Recon To Restoration will merge with GWFW beginning January 1, 2021.


“RTR has tirelessly worked for the past ten years to assist Military Veterans in the healing, restoration, and recovery from trauma suffered during service to our great country,” stated RTR Founder/CEO Erica Spence. “ I was looking for someone to link arms with and help carry-on this important work, and much needed service. Imagine my great relief to discover that God has given many the same burden of the heart as myself. Soon after working alongside God’s Word For Warriors, it did not take long for me to resolve that we were meant for each other. We will do more in service together than apart.”


Founder/Executive Director, Dr. Tom Seals, “it is my great joy to announce that RTR will become part of God’s Word for Warriors. Not only does the combining of these two spiritually driven organizations provide wonderful synergy, but Erica’s experience and leadership are tremendous assets to the GWFW’s team and the veteran community at-large.”

2nd Annual Appreciation Breakfast a Notable Success

Over 50 supporters attended the 2nd Annual GWFW Appreciation Breakfast. In addition to highlighting the success of the past year, a special guest was recognized, Porter Parrish, a WWII veteran who served with Gen Douglas MacArthur in Japan.

GWFW Announces New Executive Member



Nashville, TN (GWFW Press): God’s Word For Warriors, Board of Directors today announced that Jim Humphrey will be joining its executive team as the Vice President and Director of Development, effective March 1, 2020.

Jim will bring a wealth of experience as he helps to plot the strategic direction of the organization. Founder and Executive Director, Dr. Tom Seals, stated “We are very fortunate to have Jim with us. His experience as a career Air Force officer, leader, strategic planner, along with proven business and non-profit savvy will take us in exciting new directions.”

“Last December, we invited Jim to provide our board of directors with his assessment of the current state of the organization and present his recommended vision for the future. To say that we were blown away by his thoughts, insight, professionalism, and passion is an understatement,” says Dr. Seals.
